Duo Rengel & Alom with Juan Diego Villalobos

Music of Eleanor Alberga, Francis Poulenc, Igor Stravinsky + More

Duo Rengel & Alom – featuring violinist Ruben Rengel and pianist Ahmed Alom – has been redefining chamber music programming since 2019. Melding their classical training from the Manhattan School of Music with the rich, popular rhythms of their home countries of Cuba and Venezuela, the duo crafts bold concert experiences that bridge the classical canon with vibrant Latin American music. Their exceptional versatility allows them to create programs that showcase classical masterworks alongside improvisation in the style of music from Cuba and Venezuela. The ensemble has captivated audiences at the Kaufman Music Center’s Musical Storefronts, the Linton Chamber Music Festival, and as Flonzaley Artists-in-Residence at The Sembrich.

About the Artists

Duo Rengel & Alom with special guest Juan Diego Villalobos

Duo Rengel & Alom is an ensemble formed in 2019 by violinist Ruben Rengel and pianist Ahmed Alom, which explores versatile and bold programming rooted in classical and Latin American music. Both classically trained at Manhattan School of Music, they each also grew up with the popular traditions of their respective countries, Cuba and Venezuela, which allows them to take on improvisatory forms at the same time as they perform canonic classical repertoire. As an ensemble they have performed at Musical Storefronts by Kaufman Center, Linton Chamber Music Festival and The Sembrich Museum as Flonzaley Artists in Residency.
